Of the many things the children will be working on individually this month, we will also be launching into the fall curriculum starting with botany lessons: looking at lichen, mosses, ferns and mushrooms. These are, of course, non-seed bearing, prehistoric plants, each with their own unique growing conditions and characteristics. Lichen will only grow in areas with pure air and is therefore not found in cities. It is not one plant but two, having evolved to feed each other essential nutrients. Look and listen for other fascinating facts your children will undoubtedly be bringing home over the next few weeks as we glide into fall and say good-bye to summer. We also send a warm welcome to the last couple of students that will be joining GPM this month—we are officially a full house!
