You can sense the excitement brewing as we turn our attention to special components of our natural world that includes mammals, forests, moss, lichens and ferns. After weeks of exploration, what better way to end this month and our year-long nature curriculum than by taking the children to the Redwood forest at Lake Lagunitas in Marin? The trip may seem far, but it is absolutely worth the effort as you will see when you arrive and walk among the trees, breathe in the fresh forest air, and witness how much the children enjoy this beautiful, natural environment: a classroom of sorts without walls. They are calmer, quieter, engaged, peaceful, and happy with minimal adult guidance. There is actually a great deal of benefit for everyone being among trees—I encourage you to take a look here.
In a perfect world, we would be in nature every day. In a not-so-perfect world, we can at least take advantage of the natural world available to us if we only make the effort to get there, which is why for our annual Back to Nature Graduation and Potluck Picnic, we invite you to the beautiful setting of Lake Lagunitas in Marin. Please come and enjoy the peace that the forest abundantly offers you and your children!
