The month of February reminds us to slow down and bask in the experience of love—not just romantic love, but all types of love that include qualities of appreciation, open heartedness, and the joy of being in the present moment with your child or loved ones. We always look forward to our annual Valentine’s Day Card exchange as each child has a turn to pass out their homemade cards in a manner that is mindful and unrushed—each child greets every friend with “Happy Valentine’s Day” and their friend follows up with a “thank you” or sometimes “I love you.” We believe this exchange allows for the practice of open heartedness, joyfully giving, and receiving. Please send your child to school this day wearing either red, purple, or pink to further accentuate this joyous day.
As for our Extended Curriculum, we will be introducing the children to the magnificent world of birds. For Earth Science, we will be exploring different weather patterns. And for Lunar New Year, we have a special guest, Antonia, teaching the children about the traditions that accompany this celebration. We are looking very forward to this delightful month!
