Ahhhh, February—a month to definitely look forward to. For the past few years we have established a tradition of inviting parents to co-conspire with their children to make a Valentine’s Day card for each of their classmates. Very much like Boat Float Day (more on that later), this is where each child’s personality and creativity can shine through. It is one of my favorite celebrations as it offers the opportunity to be creative around the themes of love and friendship. I’ve kept samples of the cards that have been made in the past and will display them for you to see as inspiration. Each little creation offers an uplifting feeling—and who among us couldn’t use a little bit of that right now?
Enjoy this project with your child—more details below. Talk to your child about what it means to be loving towards others: other people, other animals, other plants, and how we can spread this feeling of love and compassion out into the world to include all beings. As the song says: “What the world needs now is love, sweet love…” and I think it is safe to say: like never before.
