This year, we celebrated Gratefulness Day a bit differently. Throughout the month of November, we read Stone Soup to the children. This story is about three strangers who arrive hungry, tired, and without food to an unknown village. One by one, the people of that town contribute an item, eventually supplying the hungry travelers with enough ingredients to feed the entire village. On Gratefulness Day, each child brought one item to school. Throughout the morning, the children helped to wash, peel, and prepare the vegetables needed for the soup. Needless to say, we had a lovely feast as everyone contributed to our community. This was a special day and one that we can continue to learn from.
