As we open our school year, we are reminded once again how terribly important every living and non-living thing is here on the planet we call home. We, as teachers and guardians of young children, hold a unique perspective of communicating knowledge and information in a way that will be useful, joyous, and hopefully plant the seed of stewardship. In our Extended Curriculum studies, we begin with Celebrating Life, opening our eyes and recognizing everything as equally important in the interrelated scheme of things. With our world view thus established, we can then continue to the specifics, looking closely at everything from ants to mountains and beyond. I invite you to join us on our journey with comments, activities, lessons, projects, research, book titles, and all else that can and will support our children in their understanding and love for the earth.
