Peacemakers from Around the World

In January, we celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. In honor of his upcoming birthday, we will be reading books about his life and listening to audio excerpts from some of his iconic speeches and creating art to commemorate his legacy of peace. We will also be introducing other individuals who throughout history have dedicated their lives to peace. Our list includes: Dolores Huerta, Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Nelson Mandela, Dr. Maria Montessori and Malala Yousafzai.

For our annual Peacemakers from Around the World Day, our parent community helped their child research a peacemaker of their choosing. On this day, the children brought to school a picture of a peace leader with a quote and a brief description of their accomplishments, including country of origin. The children presented it during circle time and our teaching team created a booklet from their contributions. This booklet is made accessible to children and parents to view. Please take a look at some of the fabulous creations.
