As we enter our final month of the academic school year, I can’t help but feel a sense of gratitude for the community we have created at Glen Park Montessori. I feel fortunate for the tight-knit group of parents and children who continue to make our school feel more like family. So…dreams do come true! The lower yard is done—not without a few setbacks, like a deteriorating retaining wall, but completed and perfectly lovely. Thank you to Pacific Playground, Doug Gourley, and his great crew headed by Marlon Andrade for their time, effort, and creative input. Suppose they do tree houses? Returning from Spring Break you will be happy to see our renovated lower play yard! It was a difficult decision to make, in that the plants that needed to be removed were flourishing there (albeit considered weeds for the most part) and were such a fresh, vibrantly alive green—a testimony to the strength of some species to grow in unexpected places. To somewhat make up for it, we are installing two wooden planter boxes with a bench connecting them on the upper deck.
